Sewing! Love it and hate it. Love it when a pattern and fabric come together beautifully. Hate it well… I don’t really need to go into the frustration of ripping out seams or sewing a piece in backwards or just not getting my project to look perfect. The perfect part is a big problem for me. I have these grand and pleasing visions of how something should appear and when it doesn’t pan out, I freak out! I want things right the first time and that is not always the case. Think Lucy in the Peanuts Gang, Arrrrg! But oh, how I love a wonderful, beautiful, lovely project , when it is finished. That is what Amy Butler’s Swing Bag is to me! A wunnerful, wunnerful success!! The pattern was bought in Grass Valley at the super amazing Ben Franklin store. OMG!!!!! I could live in that store. The fabric was purchased from a local quilt store and I used some of my stash. Trouble with my stash is that I love the fabric so much, I don’t want to cut it. So of course, I went out and replenished it with more amazing fabric! But I mean it this time……. I will be using more of my stash in the future and I plan on starting a fabric diet. DIE ET! That’s what it sounds like to me DIE of not buying fabric! But not patterns, patterns don’t count.

Hello out there!
Welcome to my blog where I will talk about stuffy stuff that inspires me, and just plain makes me happy.
My life is not that complicated. I have a wonderful husband/friend. Two grown sons and my Mummy and Dad live next door. I also have a terrific brother, sister-in-law, and two gorgeous nieces, as well as many family members who live in England. My best g-friend is Rebecca. She and I met at post-grad school about 14 years ago! She is sooo funny. She makes me laugh everyday.
I work as a kindergarten teacher. That’s my current position. I have been a teacher for twenty years now. I got a late start.
My play is pattern collecting, fabric, sewing, reading fiction, and I’m starting to dabble in photography. The photography is a little daunting as my husband is a master photographer, with a lifetime of experience and knowledge to back his craft. He is encouraging though. It’s just my insecurities that hold me back. Oh and I love to shop!! Always have! I was trained by my mother in Los Angeles and my Grandfather in London! Harrods, Liberty’s of London, Selfridges, Marks & Spencers were all part of my upbringing. My favorite shops though are thrifts. The thrill of the hunt! My son’s share that love, as does my niece, Emma.
I must thank Alicia Paulson. I am a devoted fan of her blog, roseylittlethings.typepad.com. Her advice to starting a blog is “Just do it!” I got that from a book given to me by devoted Hubby, titled, Blogging for Bliss, by Tara Frey. So…. I’m doing it. Scarryeeeeee!
